Auto GPS System
AHHHH….Where am I suppose to turn?!
If those words sound familiar to you it might be a good indication you should probably get an Auto GPS System (Global Positioning System). In the past couple of years, these systems have become extremely powerful and useful in a person’s daily life. Not only do GPS systems guide you to where you are going to go, they also help you find the cheapest gas stations, roadside assistance, food, entertainment, and whatever else you can imagine. Some of these systems will even help you find the quickest route in a traffic jam.
The first thing you should look at when examining a GPS system is the number of “points of interest” it has. Typically, all the new GPS systems will have a good amount, but you might want to check just to be safe.
If you find that the system has a good number of points of interest, you should check the size of the screen. Some people liked the big screen and some like the small screen. If you want a big one then you should get a screen around seven inches, if you want a smaller one then look for a screen around 2.5 inches.
Some GPS systems allow you to play music through them. However, these are more expensive and most likely not worth it because most cars can already play iPods and radios.
When purchasing a GPS system, you need to decide what you are going to be using it for. If you drive a lot for work it is worth it to spend a little extra money on a system that will give you live traffic updates. If you are just using it to get to a house or find a building you probably will not be needing that feature.
Make sure the GPS system will give you the option of “fastest route” “shortest distance” and “avoid freeway”.
The newest GPS systems actually have a text to voice capability which means it will actually tell you what street to turn on and in how many miles. This will allow you to concentrate on driving rather than having to look at the screen all the time. Another very important feature would be to keep in mind the installation time of the GPS system you plan to buy. Also, make sure you take a look at how long the battery life is.
Some Auto GPS systems allow you to go into a hibernation mode when it is not in use to allow you to save battery life. The main things you should be looking for are the Zip code functions, the text to speech feature, multi dimensional routing, and the number of POI (Points of interest)
If you find an Auto GPS system with those features at an affordable price you have found yourself a winner.
